And over and over again that same song played.
Set me free. Your heaven's a lie.It had been crash and burn for the past few days, although there seemed to be more burning than crashing. But the crashing would come later. It always did.
Nothing had happened yet, but in her mind she could see it all coming, like the few seconds before a fatal accident being played in slow motion.
Sitting back, she realized just how long ago it had all been coming. This accident had been planned ages ago. Right from the moment that she had that extra beverage, to the rain in the evening, to the pebble on the highway, to the time when she swung out of control. And yet there was no start to the process, like how there seemed to be no end. No end because she hadn't crashed yet.
They always said that that which doesn't kill you only makes you stronger. It's true to some extent. Or at least you believe it as you do get stronger.
And so very soon she become like the ivy that grew on the castle walls, growing thicker, stronger and becoming more difficult to remove each year, until the new gardener came with his chainsaw.
